Curriculum-Vision Updated-2023

Through our vibrant curriculum, we engage children in purposeful and exciting learning experiences; providing them with the knowledge and skills they need for the future. We have high expectations of each and every child and are committed to ensuring each child achieves their full potential and has high aspirations.

In line with Welsh Government developments and the upcoming introduction of the Curriculum for Wales, we are currently growing, developing and designing our own school curriculum.

Developing Our Curriculum Vision

“A school’s curriculum is everything a learner experiences in pursuit of the four purposes. It is not simply what we teach, but how we teach and crucially, why we teach it.” (Curriculum for Wales Guidance 2020)

When considering our vison for our school curriculum, all stakeholders came together and considered the question:What is it we want our children to leave with at the end of their Primary School journey?

We agreed we want our curriculum to develop our children as good citizens as well as lifelong learners; we want to develop the ‘whole’ child. We are passionate about developing strong personal and social skills in pupils so they can get along with each other and recognise the feelings of others.

Our Curriculum supports our learners to realise the four purposes. Our children will be:

  • Ambitious, Capable Learners
  • Ethical, Informed Citizens
  • Enterprising, Creative Contributors
  • Healthy, Confident Individuals

In addition, we want our children to have:

  • Politeness and good manners
  • Gratitude
  • Self-respect
  • A strong work ethic
  • An understanding that it is ok to ask for help
  • Financial Literacy
  • Aspirations and ambition
  • Self-belief
  • Value for mistakes
  • Understanding of the difference between right and wrong
  • Honesty
  • Social skills
  • Self-regulation skills
  • Real-life experiences
  • Understanding of social influences
    And above all….happy memories.
