Start of Term Reminders
Welcome to the start of the Spring term! It has been a pleasure to welcome our children back this week; we are so proud of how quickly they have settled back into school life, already being the best they can be!
A few reminders as we start a new term:
*Uniform – please click here for our school uniform policy. Children should wear black shoes/ trainers only, including for PE. Children are also required to wear their school jumper/ cardigan on PE days. A reminder that smart watches are not allowed to be worn in school.
*Early collections – we continue to have children collected early from school. Unless it is an emergency, a child should not be collected early from school. All routine appointments (e.g. dentist or optician) should be made out of school hours or during school holidays.
*Lateness- We have seen a big improvement in lateness this school year, thank you! Please continue to ensure your children are in their classrooms before 9am so they are there for registration and to order their lunch for the day. It is never pleasant for a child to enter a classroom late, so it is important for the children’s wellbeing that they are in school on time every day.
Thank you for your continued support.

Parenting Puzzle
Our school will be hosting a programme with Barnados called The Parenting Puzzle. The programme will cover a range of aspects for supporting your child’s behaviour, mental health and self-esteem.
Over recent months, we have had more and more parents and carers approaching us as a school for support with behaviour and dysregulations at home which we are always willing to do. We believe in a community/ family approach to supporting our children and this has been the reason for us offering to host this programme to support you all for the benefit of our children.
This programme will be of huge benefit to any parent or carer who needs some additional support at home with a range of concerns.
Starting next Wednesday (17th) in our school hall, 1:30-3:00pm. Anyone who wishes to come along and find out more about the programme, and also to find out more about the other support options available from Barnados, please come along.

Attendance
Following an attendance review with the Local Authority, we have been advised to increase our % threshold for holiday authorisation to 95% over a rolling 12 months. This means that a holiday will now only be authorised if a child’s attendance for the past 12 months is over 95%.
From Spring term onwards, attendance rewards will also now be for pupils with attendance over 95%.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Attendance Matters

The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.
We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’

Online Safety – Parental Controls
I’m sure our children had lots of new devices off Santa for Christmas! Any new device should have parental controls added straight away to protect the children from accessing any inappropriate content or games.
