Home Access to ICT
We have today loaned out a number of school Chromebooks to those families who responded to tell us they had no or limited access to devices. Please look after our devices to ensure when they come back to school, our children can continue to use them straight away. If you need support with your ICT access at home, please get in touch.
Critical Worker Provision
We are continuing to receive applications for our critical worker provision. These applications are being managed by Caerphilly Local Authority. We are absolutely committed to supporting critical worker children but please only apply if it is absolutely necessary and where no other options are available. As much as we would love to see our children in school, the virus is still very prevalent across Wales and we have to be very careful to limit our pupil numbers to keep everyone safe. The self-isolation procedures will still apply to pupils should there be a positive case in school. Therefore, should there be a positive case in any of our Hub classes we will have to ask pupils and staff to self-isolate for the required 10 day period. If our numbers in school continue to rise, we in turn increase the chances of positive cases within school and increase the risk of Hub classes being sent home to self-isolate. We are aware that for our critical worker parents this will be problematic and we want to do our best for all pupils and parents at this challenging time. If numbers to continue to rise and become a risk, it may also be the case that we’ll need to look at our additional childcare provision being held in neighbouring schools so applications won’t automatically be assigned to Derwendeg. Please only apply if absolutely necessary
Online Safety
As the children are spending more and more time online as part of their day to day learning, it is more important than ever that you are aware as parents and carers of how to keep the children safe online. The link below contains lots of useful information to help keep the children safe:
