Community Lantern Parade
We are very excited to hold our Community Lantern Parade again this year. We will be meeting in the school hall at 4:15pm on Tuesday, 19th December. We will leave the school hall and walk through the village ending at Valley View Care Home. You are then welcome to join us back in the school hall for tea, coffee and cakes. Children have to attend with an adult who will be responsible for their safety. Please register here to let us know you are coming.
Barnados Support
Thank you to all those that attended the information coffee morning with Barnados this week. We were amazed at how many services and support they are able to offer. We hope this will provide really useful information and support for parents and families.
For those that were unable to attend, but want to attend the programme, please message Mrs Wilson and she will pass on your details so that they can call you directly with more information.
Sessions will start Wednesday 17th January 1.30-3.00pm in the hall.
Universal Primary Free School Meals (UPFSM)
It is Welsh Government’s aim that every child in primary school in Wales will be eligible for a universal primary free school meal (UPFSM) by 2024, regardless of household income. In Caerphilly County Borough this is already the case and all fulltime pupils in primary school can have a free school meal. However it is important to know the difference between UPFSM and eFSM so that you can claim other benefits that go with eFSM
Eligible Free School Meal (eFSM)
Families who meet certain criteria, for example those on lower incomes or in receipt of certain benefits, may be eligible to apply for eFSM. Families in receipt of eFSM are also eligible to receive the Pupil Development Grant to buy school uniforms and equipment, sports kit and equipment for activities outside school.
If you think you might be eligible for eFSM please apply.
For more information about the eligibility criteria and the application process for eFSM please click here.
If you are already eligible for eFSM there is no need to apply again

Attendance Matters
The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.
We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’

Online Safety – Inappropriate Games
We are hearing more and more about our children playing inappropriate games, watching inappropriate progammes and accessing social media platforms underage. One of these games is called Siren Head which is highly inappropriate for children. The programme contains a lot of violence and aggression and is certainly not appropriate for any Primary aged child.
When a young child sees something inappropriate or damaging, they can’t unsee it and it can cause long term emotional harm and affect their behaviour. It is your responsibility as parents and carers to protect your children when they are accessing the internet or programmes on TV. If we become aware that a child is accessing inappropriate content, games or programmes, this will be dealt with as a safeguarding concern. If you need any help at all in setting up parental controls on devices or TVs, please contact us. We are more than happy to help. Please click here for a guide on keeping children safe online.
