Show Racism the Red Card – Competition!
Monday 20th March is the closing date for the Show Racism the Red Card Compeition.
Click here to see the compeition poster.
All entries will receive a prize with the winning entry receiving an extra special prize, plus the winning entry will be entered into the national competition. Winners in the national competition get some amazing prizes and also get to attend an awards’ ceremony in Cardiff.
Please encourage your children to complete this task at home. Show Racism the Red Card promotes a very positive message that we need to be emphasising with our children
Class Dojo
It has been brought to our attention that some of you are being asked to pay for the Class Dojo app. Please do not pay for it. Class Dojo is free. There is a version called ‘Class Dojo plus’ that they charge for but you do not need to access this. The free version will give you access to everything you need including the messaging feature.
We do not expect you to pay for anything.
If you need any support or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Fire Alarm
On Wednesday of this week, we experienced an unplanned fire alarm resulting in us calling the fire brigade and gathering at our fire assembly point on the field. It was a false alarm triggered by one of the alarm points.
I would just like to take this opportunity to express my pride in how well the children dealt with the disruption and how well they came safely back into the building and carried on with their work as if nothing had happened! Our wonderful children never fail to amaze us!
I would also like to thank those parents/ carers who were on site at the time for your quick response and support.
Choir – Thank you!
A huge well done to our School Choir and Cefn Hengoed Ladies Choir. Their concert on 10/03/2023 has raised £184.50 for Rose’s Way Foundation. This donation has been made to the charity.

Attendance Matters
The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.
We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’

Online Safety
You may recall us warning you back last year of an online character called ‘Huggy Wuggy’. On first glance, Huggy Wuggy looks like a harmless teddy but he is a character from a horror game who is highly inappropriate for Primary School aged children and a lot of his content is very scary. Please always ensure you are supervising your children when they are on the internet, especially on YouTube. When children see content such as this, they can’t unsee it so it’s vital that they are protected from such content.
