Christmas Arrangements
I would like to share our arrangements for our Christmas fun with you. We obviously can’t celebrate Christmas in our usual way, but we won’t let covid-19 spoil our Christmas fun! From next Monday (30.11) onwards, our children will be engaged in a 3 week Christmas topic, taking part in lots of fun learning activities related to Christmas. Throughout the 3 weeks we will also have:
- Christmas lunch in classes (9th December)
- PTA Christmas jumper and fun day (11th December)
- A ‘surprise’ virtual visit from a very special Christmas visitor for our younger children. (Date TBC)
- An online pantomime for all children. (Date TBC)
- Christmas parties in classes (Date TBC)
Unfortunately, due to restrictions on singing, we have also had to make some changes to our traditional Carols Around the Tree. This year, we will be holding Poems Around the Tree outdoors instead. In addition, each class will be recording and sharing a Christmas performance video to be shared through Class Dojo.
The children are still allowed to bring in Christmas cards but they will all need to be in by Friday, 11th, December so they can be kept in a box and quarantined for 72 hours and then distributed the following week. We will not be able to share cards between classes.
Fundraising
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online – from your weekly shop to your annual holiday – you could be raising free donations for Derwendeg Primary School PTA with easyfundraising?
There are over 4,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation – including eBay, Argos, John Lewis, ASOS, Booking.com and M&S – and it won’t cost you a penny extra to help us raise funds.
All you need to do is:
- Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/derwendegprimaryschoolpta/?utm_campaign=raise-more and join for free.
- Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.
- After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to Derwendeg Primary School PTA at no extra cost to you whatsoever!
There are no catches or hidden charges and Derwendeg Primary School PTA will be really grateful for your donations. Plus, once you’ve signed up and raised £5 in donations, easyfundraising will give us an extra £5 bonus donation. Thank you for your support.
Road Safety
Please help us to keep our children and families safe on the roads by keeping our pavements as clear as possible. At no time should you block a pavement. If someone can’t get past, it means they have to step onto the busy road which is very dangerous. When queuing, please stand right up against the fence and please do not block pavements (and zig zag lines) when parking. Please arrive on time for drop off and collection to avoid having to queue.
Online Safety
Have you ever calculated how long your child spends playing computer games each week? Have you thought about the impact on their mental health and wellbeing? Have you heard of Gaming Disorder? The guide at the link below gives further information about gaming disorder and the impact it can have on your children’s physical and mental health:
