End of Spring Term
Today is the last day of the Spring term. I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our amazing team of staff for their ongoing hard work and unwavering commitment and dedication to our children. We are incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic team of professionals working at Derwendeg striving every day to give our children the best possible start in life. Thank you also to our school PTA for their hard work and organisation of such lovely events for our children and for raising money to support our school.
We are, as always, incredibly proud of our children for demonstrating hard work, kindness and resilience in all they have done this term. They never fail to amaze us and they make us smile and laugh on a daily basis.
Thank you also to yourselves as parents and carers and to our school community for your ongoing support and faith in us as a school.
We wish you a great Easter break making lovely memories with your wonderful children.
We look forward to welcoming the children back to begin the summer term on Monday, 17th
April. Take care, Mrs Wangiel

Coronation Celebration
The PTA are looking for parent volunteers to support with our planned Coronation Celebration on Thursday 4th May 2023. The event will be running from 3.15pm, with set up during the day. Roles include: set up, tidy up, manning a stall (traditional games etc), manning the bouncy castle, helping at the crafting table, bbq support, supporting with races, and much more. There is something for everyone! You don’t need to stay for the full time, even an hour of support would be most appreciated. We want to make this the best celebration yet, but we can’t do it without your help. If you’d like to sign up, or for more information please see/dojo Mrs O’Connor or Miss Hayward. Thank you.
School Dinners
The council have notified us that from 17th April 2023 the cost of school dinners will be increasing to £2.30 per day. This will not affect the Foundation Phase who are all entitled to free school meals (except Nursery/Rising 3s)
School News

Heddlu Bach
This week’s whole school assembly was led by our Heddlu Bach (Little Police) club. Heddlu Bach are a group of children from Years 5 and 6 who work with the Police to look after our school, community and environment. They taught the whole school the CPR song!

Spain
A small group of Year 6 children visited Spain last week as part of our Active School’s project. They had the most amazing time being active, making new friends, trying new foods and learning Spanish. We are looking forward to welcoming Spanish and Greek children to our school in May!

Attendance Matters
The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.
We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’
