Fireworks incident – Update
Further to my message earlier this week, I would like to provide you all with an update about what has been happening over recent days.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with support from CCBC’s Health and Safety team, to ensure the circumstances into the incident are thoroughly considered. The incident has also been reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as required by law.
It is important to stress that this long-standing annual event was arranged and risk-assessed in line with appropriate reputable guidance relating to public fireworks displays, with many safety measures in place, including police and trained first aiders on site.
Immediately after becoming aware of some fireworks becoming misdirected no further fireworks were lit. However, once lit, multi-shot fireworks cannot be stopped midway through their firing cycle.
I am sure you’ll appreciate that we must allow time for the investigation to conclude before I can provide any further information about the cause of the incident.
All of those from the school community and PTA understand the distress and upset the situation caused, but please rest assured that this is being taken very seriously and I will keep you informed of any significant developments resulting from this process.

Attendance Matters
The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.
We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’

Online Safety – Social Media Scams
Many of our children tell us they are allowed to watch YouTube. Whilst YouTube contains a range of content suitable for children, it also contains a high level of content that is inappropriate for children. Children should only be allowed to access YouTube Kids and should always be supervised when accessing the internet. Please click here to a guide to find out more.
