School News
Welcome back!
Hi everyone and welcome back! It has been lovely to see all of you on the gate this week and to welcome our wonderful children back. They have certainly hit the ground running and are already working hard on our new topic for the Spring term, ‘Is there anyone out there?’ We had great fun on our Wow day, even discovering a very unusual, unidentified object on our butterfly garden! Thank you for your support for this wow day, the children looked fantastic in their costumes!
Attendance and Lateness
As you all know, we place great importance on good attendance for all of our pupils. Our school motto is ‘Be kind; be ambitious; be the best you can be.’ We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’
We have carried out our half termly attendance and lateness monitoring this week with our School Education Welfare Officer. You will all receive a letter soon detailing your child’s attendance for the Autumn term. The parents/ carers of pupils with attendance causing concern will also receive an invitation letter to a meeting to discuss ways to improve the attendance and to discuss how we can support you.
Pupils who achieved attendance higher than our school target of 92% have today been awarded with a certificate and will be treated to a fun music session with a special visitor on the 23rd January.
Clubs
A clubs letter for the Spring term was sent out earlier this week and also posted on Dojo. Please return ASAP to sign your children up to attend an after school club.
After-school clubs will re-start on Monday, 16th January.
Welsh Government Attendance Survey
The Welsh Government is currently reviewing its guidance on school attendance and is keen to include the views of parents and carers in this work. Working with Parentkind, they would like to hear from any parents and carers with a child who currently has, or has previously had issues with poor attendance so that we can better support young people.

Attendance Matters
The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.
We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’
