September INSET Dates

Thursday, 2nd and Friday, 3rd September will be INSET days for Derwendeg Primary School and the school will be closed to pupils. Children will return to school on Monday, 6th September.

Covid-19 Testing Centres

Between 30th June and 6th July, there will be temporary testing centres in Blackwood (Pontllanfraith House, Blackwood Road, NP12 2YW) and Caerphilly (Leisure Centre, Virginia Close, CF83 3SW). In addition, there is a fixed Local Testing Site at the former Aldi Site, Old Brewery Lane Rhymney. You can visit there for a PCR test between the hours of 2pm and 8pm.
If the children, or any member of your household, start displaying any covid symptoms, no matter how mild, it is important they are tested as quickly as possible. If a child has been displaying any symptoms, they cannot return to school until they have had a negative test result.
Can we also please remind you about the importance of social distancing when waiting outside the school gates or on the schoolyard. There has been an increase in cases in our local area and we want to do all we can to keep our school and our community safe.
