Welsh Government Attendance Survey

The Welsh Government is currently reviewing its guidance on school attendance and is keen to include the views of parents and carers in this work. Working with Parentkind, we would like to hear from any parents and carers with a child who currently has, or has previously had issues with poor attendance so that we can better support young people. Please click here to access the survey.

Community Lantern Parade
On Tuesday, 20th December we are going to be holding our first Community Lantern Parade. The children will be making their lanterns in school and will then be able to carry them around the village as we sing Christmas songs to bring Christmas cheer to Cefn Hengoed! We will be meeting at 4pm in the school hall. Children have to attend with an adult and we will need to know in advance which children are attending. Please click here to access the form to let us know you will be attending. We look forward to seeing you there!

Winter Clothing
As the weather is now much colder, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather with trousers or tights, a suitable coat and gloves and a scarf. If you need help with warm clothing, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you.

Public Health Wales
Public Health Wales have issued a letter which details the symptoms, treatment and complications associated with Scarlet Fever and Chickenpox. Within this letter it explains what action to take if you suspect your child has either of this illnesses. Each child has been sent home with this letter and a copy can be found here.

Attendance Matters

The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.

We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’
