Public Health Wales Advice
You will be aware of the current concerns around Strep A and other viral infections. Public Health Wales is reminding parents that cases of invasive group A streptococcal infection (iGAS) remain rare in Wales, and that children have a very low risk of contracting the disease. In most cases, infection with streptococcal A causes scarlet fever, usually a mild illness. Please click here to find out more information
Food Bank
We are currently collecting food items to provide food parcels to our community for the Christmas period. We would be grateful if you could spare a donation of non-perishable items to help our school community.
Example: baked beans, cereal, UHT milk, pasta in sauce, super noodles, pot noodles, tinned rice pudding, tinned vegetables, pasta sauce, porridge, curry sauce, tinned spagetti, tinned tuna, tinned corn beef, bottled squash etc.
There will be a white container outside the main office for the next few days. Thank you in advance for your continued support and generosity.
Council Safety Recall
We have received the below link from the council regarding the urgent safety recall of a baby self feeding pillow. The council has asked us to share this with all our parents in case of younger siblings who could be using this pillow. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/urgent-safetyalert-issued-for-baby-self-feeding-pillows

Community Lantern Parade
On Tuesday, 20th December we are going to be holding our first Community Lantern Parade. The children will be making their lanterns in school and will then be able to carry them around the village as we sing Christmas songs to bring Christmas cheer to Cefn Hengoed! We will be meeting at 4pm in the school hall. Children have to attend with an adult and we will need to know in advance which children are attending. Please click here to access the form to let us know you will be attending. We look forward to seeing you there!

Attendance Matters
The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.
We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’
