Eisteddfod Competitions
Eisteddfod Home Task
Every year we run a school Eisteddford and there is a home task chldren can compete in. This years task:
To create a junk model of a staff member.
Please use things you’d normaly put in the bin- for example a Mrs Wangiel made of toilet rolls, a Mrs Wilson made of egg cartons etc
The deadline for submission is 14/02/25
Criw Cymraeg Competition
The Criw Cymraeg and School are working towards our Silver Cymraeg Campus award. This award helps to showcase the wonderful work that staff, parents and pupils already do to promote a love of Wales, the Welsh Language and our rich cultural heritage.
We are running a competition to showcase the talent of parents and pupils, with a winner in each class and an overall winner.
The title of this competition is ‘ My Language, My Country – Fy Iaith Fy Gwlad What Wales means to me.
We would like you to design a poster around A3 size (no bigger please) with your ideas of what Wales and being Welsh means to you.
You can use pictures, words, poetry, QR codes and anything else you want to create a colourful and rich interpretation of the theme above.
We hope you have fun completing the task. Can we ask for all entries to be in before the 18th February so we can announce winners in our Eisteddfod on the 20th February.
Singing/ Dancing Competitions
Our Eisteddfod is fast approaching and we need your help! The children always enjoy the singing and dancing competitions the most but with members of staff absent we do not have coaches for these disciplines. PLEASE could you help by coaching or assisting your child if they are keen to compete in either the singing or dancing competition. The singing is an easy win as the song will be ‘Calon Lan’ which the children already know. Please help them practice and comment on volume, pace and body position. (Eyes front shoulders back.) We only sing the first verse of this song.
For the dancing, the children can choose any song they like to dance to as long as the lyrics are suitable! Please Dojo the song link (usually you tube) to your child’s teacher so we can use this on the day. The dance can be as expressive as they like and will be performed on the school stage. The children are allowed to wear a suitable costume for this competition.
The preliminary rounds will be held next week and from these, children will be chosen to go through to the finals on the day of the Eisteddfod.!
Best wishes a phob lwc!
Many Thanks Derwendeg Criw Cymraeg

Attendance Matters
The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.
We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’

Online Safety – Whatsapp
It has been brought to our attention this week that a large number of our Year 4. 5 and 6 children have been part of a Whatsapp group where inappropriate content was shared. The parents/ carers of all children invovled have been informed. Please ensure you are checking your child’s device daily and we would strongly urge you to supervise your child at all times when they are using a mobile device or any other device they can use to access the internet or speak to others. Please click here for more guidance on Whatsapp.
