Parking at Drop Off and Collection Times

Please be mindful of where you park when dropping off and collecting the children ensuring you are not blocking any of our school neighbour’s access to their drives, particularly on Cheriton Avenue & Penmaen Close.
We have received a polite request from a neighbour of the school who is regularly unable to get their car off the drive because it has been blocked by someone dropping off/ collecting children from school. Whilst you may feel you are only going to be there for a brief period of time, this is affecting our neighbours’ ability to leave for work on time or access their drive on their own property.
I would also like to remind you that it is illegal to park on the pavement opposite the school.
Please also ensure any rubbish is placed into a bin and not dropped on any roads or pavements.
Thank you for your co-operation.

Covid Testing

Wider Symptoms:
The symptoms of covid-19 have now been widened and it is recommended that anyone displaying any of the following symptoms are taken for a PCR test (a Lateral Flow test is not suitable when symptoms are displayed):
Cough, high temperature, loss of sense of taste or smell, fatigue, muscle and body aches, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting and diarrhoea.
Please do not send children to school if they are feeling unwell. If children present with these symptoms in school, we will call for them to be collected and taken for a PCR test.
Testing for Children Under 5 years old
You may have seen in the media this week about the WG announcement to stop covid testing for children under 5 years old from Monday, 11th October. From Monday, any children under 5 who are presenting with the 3 main symptoms of covid can only access a test if directed to do so by a GP. If your children under 5 are presenting with symptoms of covid, please do not send them to school but seek advice from your GP. Any children under 5 who are displaying symptoms in school will need to be collected and advice sought from the GP.

Harvest Collection

As part of our harvest celebrations, we are collecting food items to be donated to the local food bank. We politely request for every child to bring in one item of dried food/ tins by Tuesday, 12th October. Thank you for your support.

Rising 3’s Applications

Children are eligible to attend school from the term after their 3rd birthday (Rising 3s). The closing date for Rising 3 applications to start in January or April is 22nd October.
Apply online here: https://www.caerphilly.gov.uk/schooladmissions
Please share this information with anyone with a child due to turn 3 before 25th April 2022. For further information, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.

Online Safety

It still alarms us how many of our children have their own Snapchat account despite the age restriction being 13+. Please familiarise yourself with the guide below about the risks associated with Snapchat. It is our duty to protect our children online as much as we would in the real world.
