School News
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
We hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the start of the new term. Below are some important dates and updates to keep you informed about what’s happening in school over the coming weeks
Parents’ Evening Reminder
A reminder that Parents’ Evening will take place during the week commencing 9th February. This is a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and celebrate their achievements. Appointment details will be sent out next week, so please keep an eye out for further information
INSET Day – School Closed to Pupils
Please note that there will be an INSET Day on Friday 13th February. School will be closed to pupils on this day while staff take part in important training and professional development.
Year 6 Period Dignity Workshop
Our Year 6 girls recently took part in a Period Dignity workshop, which provided age-appropriate education about menstrual health and the changes their bodies will experience. The session aimed to promote understanding, confidence, and open discussion, while reducing any stigma or anxiety around this topic. Pupils learned about wellbeing, hygiene, and how to manage periods in a safe and supportive way. Each girl was given a free dignity pack to take home, helping them feel prepared and respected as they approach this stage of development. Workshops like this play an important role in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and confidence.
ParentPay
As we look ahead to upcoming school trips and activities, we kindly ask all families to make sure they are signed up to ParentPay. This will help us manage permissions and payments more smoothly. If you need any support setting up your account, please contact the school office — we’re happy to help!
Year 5 & 6 London Trip – Sponsored Fun Run
We are excited to announce a sponsored fun run to help raise funds to reduce the cost of the upcoming Year 5 and 6 London trip. During the visit, pupils will travel by coach to London, enjoy a flight on the iconic London Eye, and take part in a walking tour to see some of the city’s famous landmarks and sights. The trip will also include a visit to the West End to watch a live performance of Matilda the Musical, giving pupils the opportunity to experience a professional theatre production in one of the world’s most famous theatre districts. We are really looking forward to dressing up, having fun, and enjoying a run around the school grounds to support this exciting opportunity. More details will follow soon, and thank you in advance for your support.
PTA School Disco
Our next PTA School Disco will take place on Wednesday 4th February. As always, this will be a fun opportunity for children to meet up with their friends, enjoy some music, and have a great time. We encourage all pupils to support this event, as it helps to raise valuable funds that go directly towards enriching experiences and resources for the children in our school.
Learning at Home Reminder
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Mr Lloyd, Mrs Lloyd and the Derwendeg team

Attendance Matters
The United Nation Article 28 states ‘every child has the right to have a primary education’. We are linking our attendance performance to this article.
We want our children to have the best possible education to give them the best chance in life. If your children aren’t in school we can’t give them this opportunity and can’t give them the opportunity to ‘be the best they can be.’
